What to Expect
This tour will take you out of Sofia. You will be transfered by A/C vehicle to some of the picturesque places in Bulgaria. The accommodation is in the wine cellars - Starosel Winery is on the spot of ancient archaeological remains of the Thracians. Chateau Kopsa Winery is an unique place that offers high quality services. You will not only taste the wines and food but you will learn about the process of making wine in the past and now.
Day 1 Sofia - Starosel 200 km.
Meet & Greet at Sofia International Airport. Transfer to the Complex of Starosel. The winery of Starosel is situated at the foot of the biggest Thracian religious complex and tomb in Bulgaria. The immediate vicinity of the shrine gives us the unique opportunity to feel the spirit of the antient Thracians, bequathed the art of making wine. The complex includes winery with destilation cellar,basements with unique halls for tasting, hotel, restaurant and SPA centre for wine therapy. Accommodation and free time to relax in the spa zone. In the evening wine tasting of 3 types of wine. You will hear a story of wine making in the region. Have your dinner in the Complex.
Day 2 Starosel – Chateau Copsa 70 km.
After breakfast, visit the Thracian Heroon – a sacral place for the ancient Thracians where the wine played important role in the rituals. The Thracian Temple Complex at Starosel dates back to the end of 5th and the beginning of 4th century BC. The entrance of the temple has a parade staircase and two pedestals, on which statues of lions were sitting. The staircase leads the visitors to a flat platform, used for ritual dances. Religious ceremonies, related to the cult to the Mother Goddess, her son the Sun and Orpheus were performed in the temple.
Transfer to Chateau Copsa - located in the heart of the Valley of Roses in the Thracian Plain. Copsa is the ancient name of Karlovo - the main town of the Valley, a place rich in history and tradition. The impressive building of the elegant castle stands on a hill among the vineyards of their family cellar Chateau Copsa.Wine tasting of 3 types of wine. Have your and dinner in the Chateau.
Day 3: - Chateau Copsa - Sofia 150 km.
After breakfast, transfer to Sofia International Airport for departure.
